This is a massive tree with grey bark. The trunk is thick and looks swollen, while the branches at the top are thiner. White, five-petalled flowers bloom at night in these trees. The tree's leaves fall every year in the dry season.

Capparis cartilaginea
This flower with thick, flat and round leaves and thick stems is located in coastal areas from Kenya to Pakistan. The flowers are white to pink and have long stamens. Petals number 3 to 5 with the same number of sepals. The petals and sepals may be unequal in size. Some plants may have thorns.

This green vegetable is grown in the cooler parts of Kenya. The plants grow taller as the lower leaves are harvested and used for cooking. Sukuma Wiki, the local Kiswahili name refers to pushing or extending the weekly food budget. The plants are easy to grow and produce a green, leafy vegetable.
